Starting January 2025, the American Association of Immunologists (AAI), publisher of The Journal of Immunology (The JI) and ImmunoHorizons (IH), entered a publishing partnership with Oxford University Press (OUP). While AAI retains full ownership and editorial control of its journals, this partnership offers authors publishing in The JI and IH access to innovative tools, broader dissemination of their research, and an enhanced reader experience.
New Author Resources
Authors will benefit from seamless communication and regular updates along with access to OUP’s dedicated Author Support team.
Submitting to The JI is free and includes Format Free Initial Submissions. AAI members will receive discounts on flat-rate article processing charges (APCs) for articles published in The JI and IH.
Additionally, for those seeking assistance with language, OUP has partnered with Enago to offer a 30% discount on Professional Language and Editing Services*.
After publication, OUP provides tools to help authors share their research effectively:
- Authors receive an Author Sharing Link, a free-access permalink with no time or viewing limits, allowing authors to easily share their work with colleagues.
- Authors will have access to Article Promotion Assistance, including free resources on search engine optimization (SEO), and social media best practices.
- Authors can use Real-time Article Metrics, encompassing metrics on usage, citations, and Altmetric scores to demonstrate the reach and impact of their publication.
OUP Offers APC Waivers for Eligible Authors in ImmunoHorizons
As part of their Developing Countries Waiver Policy, OUP will automatically waive Article Processing Charges (APCs) for eligible authors published in ImmunoHorizons. Authors qualify for a full waiver if they are based in an eligible country or region and are the article’s corresponding author. Waivers are applied automatically during submission and do not affect the peer review or editorial decision-making process, as journal editors and reviewers are not informed of waiver eligibility.
Since 1913, AAI has been a leading voice in the scientific community championing scientific excellence through its esteemed journals. The new resources available through the OUP partnership elevate the journals’ and AAI’s ability to serve the immunology community by empowering authors to communicate their research more effectively and ensuring broader discovery of research within the field.
*Enago is an independent service provider and manages all aspects of this service, including payment. You are under no obligation to take up this offer. Language editing does not guarantee manuscript acceptance, as all submissions undergo the standard review process for AAI journals.
