Every year, the AAI Annual Meeting offers new and exciting science in the poster sessions and podium presentations. For IMMUNOLOGY2025™ (May 3–7), AAI is introducing several new events and initiatives that will make the conference experience better than ever. Here’s your guide to what’s new in Honolulu.
First Things First: An Insider’s Guide to IMMUNOLOGY2025™
First Things First is a special event at 10:30 on the morning of Saturday, May 3, designed to help new members and first-time attendees learn how to navigate and make the most of the meeting. The first part of the event will introduce attendees to the scientific program, social events, poster sessions, the exhibit hall, using the meeting app, and collaboration/networking opportunities. A networking session will follow to get the meeting off to a collaborative start.
First Things First is a ticketed event. Tickets can be purchased online when you register for IMMUNOLOGY2025™ or onsite at Registration.
Before the meeting, AAI will also host a First Things First webinar on April 16, 3:00–4:00 PM EDT. Leaders from AAI’s Membership and Program Committees, as well as AAI staff, will share insights and answer questions about all aspects of IMMUNOLOGY2025™. Check virtual.aai.org for updates and more information.
Meeting Ambassadors
Attending a large meeting like IMMUNOLOGY2025™ for the first time can be daunting. AAI is recruiting volunteers to serve as Meeting Ambassadors and help first-time attendees throughout the week. Experienced conference-goers can sign up to share tips, invite someone to walk through a poster session with them, and encourage networking.
Those interested becoming a Meeting Ambassador can sign up when they register for the meeting or add it to an existing registration. There will be an informational session at IMMUNOLOGY2025™ to prepare ambassadors.
Major Hangout Complexes
Make sure to stop by MHC I and MHC II, the “Major Hangout Complexes.” New for 2025, these two dedicated collaboration zones will be the perfect spots to connect with other attendees in planned or spontaneous gatherings based on your research interests. No chaperone molecules required.
AAI Presentation Theater
The AAI booth in the exhibit hall will feature a presentation theater hosting a full schedule of events to help you make the most of your membership. Look out for updates as we finalize the schedule.
Real-Time Transcription and Translation Service
As part of a commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, AAI is providing real-time transcription and translation via Wordly at select sessions. At these sessions, live captions will be displayed on-screen for all podium speakers. Additionally, real-time translation into 60+ languages will be available through the meeting app. These services will be available both during presentations and in question-and-answer periods.
Childcare Awards
AAI is offering childcare awards to attendees to assist in the expense of childcare during the meeting. We will be able to help approximately three times more families than in previous years. More details about this new program will be available on the meeting website.
Sustainability Initiatives
AAI is committed to reducing our environmental impact through various sustainability initiatives throughout the meeting, including water bottle reuse incentives, badge recycling, sustainable signage, donation of unused materials, and food rescue programs to support the Hawaiian community.
